In our opinion, the best time for a 3D4D/HD scan is between 25-30 weeks, although they can also be done successfully earlier, for example at 24 weeks, and later, up to about 32 weeks.
Because the baby is not always in a great position for 3D4D/HD pictures, occasionally re-takes may be necessary to get better pictures so, if possible, we recommend you book your appointment for not later than 29 weeks to allow for any re-takes in case we think we can do better for you in a second scan.
The sonographer will perform the scan using the special 3D4D/HD technique. During the scan you will see live pictures of your baby moving around on the big screen.
A good number of still pictures of the baby captured for output to the optional USB stick.
If you select the USB stick, after the scan you review all the still shots and select your 2 favourites to print as colour photos; all the other pictures are saved on the memory stick.
Please book early to avoid disappointment, especially for Saturdays.
We like to take good care of our customers so all appointments last about 30 minutes from start to finish and include:
- a short welcoming talk by way of introduction to the procedure
- a 15-minute time-slot including a 10-minute scan
- about 5 minutes afterwards to choose your favourite pictures and print 2 photographs (from the optional USB stick)
It is quite unusual for it to happen but if for any reason we do not capture enough good footage of your baby during your first session we offer one more scan free of charge.

A deposit of £10.00 is required at the time of booking and the balance is to be paid by card or cash in person on arrival.
When booking on-line, the service user must state what the gestation of the pregnancy will be on the day of the appointment.

Ultrasound Best will take the information provided by the patient at face value and in good faith.
If it transpires during the examination that the pregnancy is not at the stage advised by the patient but that she is in fact presenting at a gestation under 24 weeks, the Company may not be able to get the best results.
Ultrasound Best will not offer a free re-scan for patients for 3D4D/HD scan who present earlier than the minimum of 24 weeks.
TWINS
Standard Package price for Twins is £65 as it includes a longer 20-25-minute scan because twins always need more time. We also advise mums of twins to come at 24-28 weeks because 2 babies are harder to scan as they have less womb; it’s better to scan before they grow too big!
Cancel up to 7 days before the day of the appointment and the deposit is 100% refundable.
Cancel between 6 and 3 days before the appointment and 50% of the deposit is refundable.
Cancel 2 days or less before the appointment – the deposit is not refundable.
The quality of the visual result of the scan is dependent on the stage of pregnancy, the size and position of the baby, the volume of amniotic fluid and the amount of tissue (skin, muscle, etc) between the ultrasound probe and the foetus in the womb. A good image cannot always be obtained.
